The Student Nurses’ Association of India (SNAI) Election Program for the academic year 2026 was successfully conducted at Florence Nightingale College of Nursing, GTB Hospital, Delhi. The purpose of organising the election program was to promote leadership, responsibility, and active participation among student nurses.

The program was organised systematically in the presence of distinguished dignitaries, faculty members, and student representatives from various nursing institutions.

SNAI Election Inauguration:

The program commenced with the registration of SNA representatives from 9:00 to 9:30 AM. The program started with Lamp Lighting and Saraswati Vandana, symbolising knowledge and wisdom.

The Welcome Address was delivered by Ms D. Shanthi Sankar, Delhi State SNAI Advisor, who warmly welcomed the chief guests, dignitaries, faculty members, and all students. In her address, she highlighted the importance of leadership among student nurses. She encouraged students to ensure a fair and transparent election process and to select capable leaders who could effectively serve the Student Nurses Association of Delhi Branch.

The dignitaries were felicitated with saplings as a symbol of appreciation and sustainability.

This was followed by the Presidential Address by Ms Yangchen Dolma, President, TNAI Delhi State Branch, who motivated the students to participate in the election process actively and emphasised the importance of conducting a fair election.

The Special Note Address was delivered by Ms T. S. Hameed, Principal, Florence Nightingale College of Nursing. She appreciated the initiative taken to organise the election program and encouraged students to uphold professional ethics, teamwork, and commitment in their nursing careers.

Mrs S. Vatchala Dhinakaran, National SNAI Advisor & Assistant Secretary General, TNAI HQ, delivered a Keynote Address on SNAI. She explained the structure, objectives, and various activities of SNAI. She also informed the participants that SNAI elections will now be held annually, to provide more opportunities for students to participate in the electoral process and to develop leadership skills, teamwork, confidence, and organisational abilities.

SNAI Voting Process

Before the commencement of the election, Ms Bhavesh, Principal, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital College of Nursing, and Returning Officer for the 2026 SNAI Elections, clearly explained the rules and regulations of SNAI Elections to all participants to ensure transparency, fairness, and the smooth conduct of the election process.

The election was planned for three positions, but held for only two, namely;

  1. SNAI Chairperson  
  2. SNAI Joint Secretary

The ANM Student Representative Post was declared elected before the start of the SNAI Election process by the Returning Officer. All other remaining posts—SNAI Vice Chairperson, SNAI Secretary, SNAI Treasurer, and SNAI Programme Chairperson—were declared unopposed on 3rd March 2026, as per SNAI Circular, due to no opponent contesting the above-mentioned posts.

Following this, the contestants’ self-introductions were conducted, during which each candidate introduced themselves, shared their vision and plans for strengthening SNAI activities, and asked for a vote and support.

The election was conducted from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by vote countingunder the supervision of the Returning Officer and TNAI Executive members. The results were officially declared by the Returning Officer, Ms Bhavesh, Principal, VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital.

Declaration of Elected Candidates

The following candidates were elected to the SNAI Executive Committee 2026 of TNAI Delhi State Branch:

  • SNAI Chairperson: Ms Ridham Saini – PD CON (Elected by Open Election)
  • SNAI Vice Chairperson: Ms Anshika Gautam – Kasturba College of Nursing (Declared Unopposed)
  • SNAI Secretary: Ms Naincy Kumari Sharma – RAK College of Nursing (Declared Unopposed)
  • SNAI Joint Secretary: Ms Nivedhya Venu Gopal – Apollo School of Nursing (Elected by Open Election)
  • SNAI Treasurer: Ms Simranjeet Kaur – JRT School of Nursing (Declared Unopposed)
  • SNAI Programme Chairperson: Ms Irtiqa Farooq – Florence Nightingale College of Nursing (Declared Unopposed)
  • ANM Student Representative: Ms Sheetal – Rural Health Training Centre, Najafgarh (Elected by Open Election)

The dignitaries congratulated all the newly elected candidates and encouraged them to perform their duties with dedication, integrity, and enthusiasm for the progress of SNAI and the nursing profession.

Felicitation of Outgoing SNAI Office Bearers

A felicitation ceremony was held to recognise and appreciate the dedicated service of the outgoing SNAI office bearers, who were presented with a memento and a certificate.

Valedictory Session

During the Valedictory Session, the SNAI Executive Committee for 2025–2026 presented a report on their tenure, highlighting the various academic, cultural, and professional activities conducted during their term.

The program concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms Savita Devi, Joint Secretary, TNAI, who expressed sincere gratitude to the dignitaries, special appreciation to the principal & organisers of Florence Nightingale College of Nursing, faculty members, and students for their valuable support and participation in making the event a grand success.
