The Indian Society of Perinatology and Reproductive Biology (ISOPARB), Delhi Chapter, in collaboration with the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), Delhi State Branch, organized a Continuing Medical Education/Continuing Nursing Education (CME/CNE) programme on “Recent Updates in Labor Management” on 22 August 2026 (Saturday) at the TNAI Headquarters, L-17, Green Park, New Delhi from 2 pm to 4.30pm.

The programme brought together medical and nursing professionals to update their knowledge and understanding of contemporary approaches to labour management, with emphasis on evidence-based practice, timely clinical decision-making, technology, and management of special cases.

Inaugural Session

The programme commenced at 2:15 PM with a welcome address by Mrs. Yangchen Dolma, President, TNAI Delhi State Branch, who welcomed the distinguished faculty, EC members of Delhi Branch, speakers, panellists, nursing professionals, and participants.

This was followed by prayer and lamp lighting, marking the formal inauguration of the CME/CNE programme.

Session I

The first academic session commenced with the Welcome Address and Release of the Newsletter by Dr. Sumita Mehta, President, ISOPARB, Delhi.

The scientific sessions covered important and clinically relevant topics:

• Redefining Normal Labor – presented by Dr. Sumiti Mehta Dixit, with Dr. Mala Srivastava as Chairperson. The session focused on the contemporary understanding of normal labour and the importance of appropriate monitoring and supportive care.
• Diagnosing Labor Arrest: When to Wait and When to Intervene? – presented by Dr. Neha Puri Gulati, chaired by Dr. Rinku Sen Gupta Dhar and Dr. Harmeet Khurana. The session highlighted appropriate assessment of labour progress and the importance of timely decision-making regarding intervention.
• AI in Labor Management – presented by Dr. Neha Varun. The session introduced the emerging role of artificial intelligence and technology in supporting clinical decision-making and improving labour management.

Session II – Panel Discussion

The second session featured an interactive Panel Discussion on “Management of Labor in Special Cases”, providing an opportunity for participants to gain practical insights from experts representing different areas of maternity care.

Key Learning Outcomes

The CME/CNE provided participants with an opportunity to:

1. Update their knowledge regarding current concepts and practices in normal labour management.
2. Understand appropriate assessment of labour progress and identification of labour arrest.
3. Recognize situations where continued observation is appropriate and when intervention may be required.
4. Explore the emerging applications of Artificial Intelligence in labour management.
5. Strengthen clinical decision-making in the management of special cases.
6. Appreciate the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration between obstetricians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
7. Reinforce the principles of safe, respectful, evidence-based and woman-centred maternity care.

Conclusion

The CME/CNE on “Recent Updates in Labor Management” was an academically enriching and professionally relevant programme. The collaboration between ISOPARB, Delhi Chapter and TNAI Delhi State Branch provided an effective platform for sharing current knowledge, clinical expertise, and practical experiences in labour management.

The programme reinforced the commitment of both organizations towards continuous professional development, evidence-based maternity care, safer childbirth, and improved maternal and neonatal outcomes.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. V. Indumathy, Secretary, TNAI Delhi State Branch, expressing gratitude to the organizing team, faculty, panelists, participants, and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the CME/CNE.
