Overview:
The Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), Delhi State Branch, organised a World Patient Safety Day webinar titled “Strengthening Diagnostic Processes—A Foundation for Safer Patient Care.” Around 50 Nursing Officers from different hospitals in New Delhi actively participated in the online event.
Program Highlights:
- The webinar commenced at 6:30 PM with a warm welcome and introduction by the moderator, Mr Man Singh Jat, Co-coordinator for the Webinar session and Chairperson of the Nursing Service Committee, TNAI Delhi State Branch.
- The Keynote Address was delivered by Ms Yangchen Dolma, President of TNAI Delhi State Branch, who highlighted the significance of World Patient Safety Day and emphasized the need to strengthen diagnostic processes to enhance patient care outcomes.
- The Special Address was presented by Ms. Annie Kumar, Vice President for North Region, who underscored the importance of diagnostics.
Webinar Sessions:
- Session 1:
Mrs. Ashly Mathew, Chairperson for Program Committee, TNAI Delhi State Branch, who is currently working as a Nursing Officer in Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, New Delhi, elaborated on the topic of “The diagnostic process for Safer Patient Care” in improving patient safety, emphasizing accuracy, timeliness, and coordination among healthcare professionals.

- Session 2:
Mr Pramod V., Nursing Officer from the Quality Cell at Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, New Delhi, shared insights on “Innovative diagnostic technologies and the Role of Nurses” in implementing and supporting these processes for safer patient care.

Vote of Thanks:
The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr V. Indumathy, Secretary of TNAI Delhi State Branch, who thanked the speakers, participants, and organisers for their contributions and active participation.
Summary:
The webinar witnessed the active participation of nursing professionals and healthcare experts in emphasizing the importance of diagnostic accuracy and strengthening diagnostic processes to ensure patient safety. Report of Membership Campaign Organized by Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan, Govt of NCT

Program Highlights:
DHASNU (Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan Nurses Union) organised a Membership Campaign in collaboration with the TNAI Delhi Branch. The event started with a prayer song. Ms Ragini Shah, Nursing officer welcomed the DNS Mrs. Iris Alka Massey, ANS Mrs Anita of Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan, followed by welcoming the TNAI Delhi Branch President, Mrs Yangchen Dolma, and Dr V. Indumathy, Secretary of TNAI Delhi Branch. The Presidential address was delivered by Mr Sudhir Rupjee, President of DHASNU.



- Mrs. Yangchen Dolma, President, addressed the gatherings and then explained the History of TNAI, its Vision, Core activities, and Benefits to the Members. Encouraged and motivated the Nursing Officers to become members of the esteemed Nursing Association, none other than the Trained Nurses Association of India.
- The TNAI Delhi Branch activities were presented by Dr V. Indumathy, Secretary of the TNAI Delhi Branch.
- The campaign was also addressed by the gracious presence of respected DNS Mrs Iris Alka Massey and Mrs Anita, ANS of Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan, Govt of NCT.
- The Membership Campaign was concluded with a felicitation by DHASNU to all the Nursing Officers with certificates for their recognition of extraordinary service during the CORONA Period. It was witnessed by the TNAI Branch President and Secretary.
- A vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr Manish Prajapati, General Secretary of DHASNU.



- On behalf of the TNAI Delhi Branch, I thank the entire team of Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan Union, DHASNU President Mr Sudhir Rupjee, Secretary Mr Manish Prajapati, Ms Suman V Singh, Joint Secretary and Mrs Taruna Sharma, DHASNU Coordinator for TNAI Membership, the wonderful opportunity provided and created a platform to motivate the nurses to take up the membership.
- Further the DHASNU team requested the TNAI Delhi Branch to collaborate with DHASNU to conduct a series of webinar sessions as a CNE (initiative by DHASNU supported by TNAI Delhi Branch) for their entire Nurse fraternity who enrolled as life members.

Result of Membership Campaign:
- As a result of this campaign and continuous motivation by the DHASNU President and Secretary and other Officer Bearers, they enrolled nearly 50 Members.
- About 10 to 20 members updated their membership details and were able to bring their membership changed to the actual State of Working.
- Soon, the TNAI Delhi Branch will be organizing a series of Webinar Sessions exclusively for the Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan Nursing Officers.


REPORT OF WEBINAR CONDUCTED from 21-24th & 28-30th December 2024
Topic:
“ECG – from Basics to Essentials”

Overview
The Delhi State Branch of The Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) successfully organized a comprehensive webinar titled “ECG Essentials: Step by Step from Basic to Advanced.” The webinar aimed to enhance the participants’ understanding of electrocardiography (ECG) and improve their ability to interpret ECGs in clinical practice. The sessions were carefully designed to cover fundamental concepts, advanced techniques, and practical applications in a step-by-step manner. This initiative attracted a diverse audience, including nursing professionals, educators, and students, all eager to strengthen their expertise in ECG interpretation.

Day1 (21st Dec 2024-Module 1): ECG Essentials: Conduction System and Basic Principles

This session focused on introducing participants to the conduction system of
the heart and the foundational principles of ECG interpretation. The speakers
provided clear explanations supported by practical examples.
Day 2 (22nd Dec2024, Module 2): The Physics Behind Cardiac Axis: The Super Axis Man
Speaker: Mr. Arun EV
Participants explored the physics and mechanics of the cardiac axis. This
session clarified the clinical relevance of determining the cardiac axis in
diagnosing heart conditions.
Day3 (23rd Dec 2024, Module 3): The Pacemaker of the Heart: P Wave and Atrial Arrhythmias
Speaker: Ms Tenzin Dolma
The session delved into the role of the P wave as the heart’s pacemaker. Atrial
arrhythmias were thoroughly explained, providing participants with diagnostic
and management insights.
Day4 (24th Dec 2024, Module 4): Understanding ECG Parameters
Speakers: Ms Anu James, Mr Arun EV
This module covered various ECG parameters, offering participants a deeper
understanding of the technical aspects of interpreting ECG tracings.
Day 5 (28th Dec 2024, Module 5): Ventricular Repolarization “The T Wave”
Speaker: Mr. Pramod
The session discussed the significance of the T wave in ventricular repolarization
and its diagnostic implications.
Day 6 (29th Dec 2025, Module 6): Understanding the Complex “ECG Waves in MI”
Speaker: Mr. Arun EV
This session emphasized identifying ECG changes indicative of myocardial
infarction (MI). Real-life case studies were used to reinforce learning.
Day 7 (30th Dec 2024, Module 7): ECG Virtual Workstation, TNAI Video Presentation, Post-test, and Feedback
Speakers: Mr. Arun EV
The final module provided a practical experience through the ECG Virtual
Workstation.
Performance Evaluation
A pre-test and post-test were conducted to measure the knowledge improvement among participants.
- Average Pre-Test Score: 4/14
- Average Post-Test Score: 11/14
The marked improvement in scores highlights the effectiveness of the webinar in enhancing participants’ understanding of ECG interpretation
Participants Detail
A total of 50 participants registered for the webinar series. Out of these, certificates were issued to 28 participants. Certificates were issued only to those participants who complied with the requirement to issue the certificates. Participants also viewed a video presentation about TNAI, followed by a post-test and feedback.
Participant Feedback
Participants expressed high satisfaction with the webinar’s content, structure, and delivery. The ECG Virtual Workstation was appreciated as a practical tool for applying theoretical knowledge. Many attendees acknowledged the relevance of the topics covered to their professional practice.

Ms Geeta Gulati (National Nightingale Awardee, 2023), ANM Representative of the TNAI Delhi Branch, introduced the session and elaborated on the objectives of the topic. Her presentation set the stage by underlining the importance of collective action to mitigate pneumonia among newborns. - Action

Ms Savita, Joint Secretary of the TNAI Delhi Branch, comprehensively explained the action plan for implementing SAANS effectively. The participants highly appreciated her insights into strategies for awareness and preventive measures. - Vote

Outcome:

This informative webinar was a fitting celebration of Newborn Week, contributing to the professional growth of ANM students and strengthening their commitment to public health initiatives.
Support to AINPSEF in the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS)-
Concerning the letter No.63/2024 dated 08/11/2024 received from AINPSEF, with the agenda to reinstate OPS through the National Mission for OPS (Bharat), we, the TNAI, Delhi Branch, appreciate your organisation for leading the drive to bring nationwide change to the Old Pension Scheme.
I am pleased to inform you that TNAI, in the Memorandum of TNAI HQ to the 7th CPC on behalf of the Nurses of India in July 2014, it has already been recommended in point No 9 subpoint (k) regarding the re-instatement of the old Pension Scheme. Henceforth, we at the TNAI Delhi state branch also extend support to AINPSEF in this drive of Peaceful demand. We believe that this collective cause is of immense importance to all the employees in ensuring their financial security post-retirement. This letter of support is an official expression of TNAI and our solidarity with the demand for reinstatement of OPS– Pension Jay Ghosh Rally.
With an optimistic vision that this rally will be a significant step towards achieving our shared goal of reinstatement of OPS. Thank you.
Report of the Delhi Branch State-Level SNAI Elections 2024
The Delhi Branch State Level SNAI elections were held on 9th November 2024, from 9 am to 1 pm at S L Talwar Auditorium, Moolchand Hospital, New Delhi. The election event started with a prayer song by the students of Smt Janak Rani Talwar School of Nursing; Dr V Indumathy, Secretary of TNAI Delhi State Branch, delivered a Welcome address, which was followed by a Lamp Lighting ceremony by the dignitaries, Dr Gayatri Talwar, Director, Moolchand Hospital, Ms Bindu Verma, Principal, JRT School of Nursing, Mrs Annie Kumar, Vice President, North Region, Mrs Vatchala Dhinakaran, Assistant Secretary General, TNAI and Dr V. Indumathy, Secretary and all EC Members of the TNAI Delhi Branch. The dignitaries delivered the special keynote address to the student contestants.
A total of 45 students from 9 colleges participated in the election, out of which 33 contestants were nominated for the post of Chairperson (7), Vice Person (7), Joint Secretary (7), SNAI Treasurer (6), and SNAI Program Chairperson (6). The student contestants were asked to address the audience, and each contestant was given 1 minute to express themselves. The secret ballot box system followed while conducting the elections. The faculty in charge from other than the nominated colleges and EC members of the TNAI Delhi Branch were called to count votes. The results were announced by Madam Mrs Annie Kumar, Vice President of North Region, TNAI & Returning Officer of State SNAI elections; the Winners were felicitated by Annie Madam, Mrs Vatchala Dhinakaran, Assistant Secretary-General, TNAI, Dr V. Indumathy, Secretary of the TNAI Delhi State Branch and Mrs Savita Devi, Joint Secretary of TNAI Delhi State Branch; Dr Daisy Thomas, Chairperson Education and Research Committee (Interim); Dr Sharwan Kumar Dhaka, Chairperson Public Health Nursing Section) and Mrs Santosh Singh, Chairperson of the Socio-economic Welfare Committee of TNAI Delhi Branch.
The Winners of the Delhi State SNAI Elections 2024 were;

The Delhi State SNAI Election adjourned at 1 PM with a Vote of Thanks by Mrs Savita Devi, Joint Secretary, TNAI Delhi Branch and refreshments were served.

Important Instructions to be followed by TNAI Life Members of Delhi State Branch attending GBM on 26 October 2024
Date & Venue: 26th October 2024 at International Youth Hostel, 5 Nyaya Marg, Chanakyapuri, New Delhi – 110021
1. Entry Time for GBM:
- The General Body Meeting (GBM) entry time is from 1:00 to 1:20 PM. No entry is permitted after 1.20 pm
- ONLY TNAI Life Members are allowed ENTRY.
2. Registration Process:
- TNAI APP Check:
- TNAI Members MUST CARRY their TNAI ID Card (or)
- Members, please download the TNAI APP from the Google Play Store and check your details, such as Date of Enrollment, Photo & Signature etc.,
- Registration MUST before entry to the Conference Hall:
- Registration includes the Serial number, Name of the LIFE MEMBER, and TNAI Number.
- Further Additional information will be collected later after the HOR selection.
- Registration Counters:
- There will be SEPARATE REGISTRATION COUNTERS for members of the nursing education sector, nursing service, and public health nursing sectors.
3. Selection of HOR Plan:
- Current Status:
- Note that 10 Executive Committee Members have already been selected as HOR, with 17 remaining HORs will be selected (27 HORs as per March 2024 membership status – notified by TNAI HQ).
- 15 Wait List HOR will also be selected.
- Selection Ratio: (out of 17 HOR)
- 1 HOR from Public Health Nursing (if represented); otherwise, the position will go to the sector with maximum attendance.
- 8 HORs from the Nursing Education sector.
- 8 HORs from the Nursing Service sectors.
4. Mandatory Registration Fees for Conference and Election:
- Mandatory Registration for the Conference and giving CONSENT for the SAME is a MUST.
- The Charges for Conference Registration Rs. 4500/-, the place of Election- Mohali, Punjab; Election Date 5/12/24;
- Reimbursement amount of Rs. 10000/- per HOR is ONLY GIVEN by the TNAI Delhi Branch (which includes Conference Registration fee, Travel and Lodging, not exceeding Rs. 10000/- Exceeding which HOR has to pay by themself). The claims can be settled with HOR after successfully submitting proof of documents, such as tickets, lodging, and conference certificates.
- The waitlist HOR MUST GIVE THEIR consent if the primary listed HOR cancels at the last moment due to emergency or urgent unavoidable reasons. The TNAI Delhi Branch email ID will be officially intimated in such a situation. Once the selected HOR cannot make it possible, they will not be considered for the next time HOR selection process.
7. Tie-Breaking Criteria:
- In case of any TIE during the selection process, the criteria for ACTIVE Membership will be followed such as;
- Previous attendance in TNAI conferences, workshops
- Motivator for Membership
- Previous EC
- Date of Enrollment, updated details ONLINE
- Previously attended the GBM
- Involvement in any TNAI Activities without defaming the TNAI

Notification regarding Cancer Awareness Program
In collaboration with the Nurses Initiative for Community Empowerment (NICE) Delhi chapter, the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), Delhi state branch, conducted a cancer awareness program for the residents of the Tibetan Youth Hostel, consisting of 50 college students and the hostel staff on 19/10/2024 from 2.30 PM to 4 PM at Tibetans Youth Hostel Auditorium, sector 14, Rohini.
The main focused messages were:
- “Early detection saves lives—regular screenings and self-exams can make a crucial difference in cancer outcomes.”
- “Spread the word: Knowledge is power in the fight against cancer; educate yourself and others about prevention and treatment options.”
The Program started with Registration by Ms. Ashly Mathew, Chairperson of the Program Committee, and Mrs. Geeta Rani, Representative ANM/LHV, TNAI Delhi State Branch. The President of TNAI Delhi State Branch, Mrs. Yangchen Dolma, delivered the welcome speech and was a Moderator for the Awareness Program. The first session started with the Prevention and early detection of cancer by the National Chairman of NICE, Mr Mathew Varghese, which was followed by a Breast self-examination & its importance delivered by a lived experience expert, Ms Neelima Sharad Shingade, Senior Nursing Officer of AIIMS IRCH, New Delhi. The final session, an orientation to Delhi Government Healthcare facilities in the Rohini region, was held by Dr Sharwan Kumar Dhaka, Chairperson of the Public Health Nursing Section, TNAI Delhi State Branch.
At the end of all the sessions, Dr V. Indumathy, Secretary of TNAI Delhi State Branch delivered the Vote of Thanks. Finally, all the speakers/ resource persons/ experts were felicitated by Dr. Tenzin Thupten, Director of the Tibetan Youth Hostel. The program concluded with the group photo.


Notification regarding Orientation Visit to TNAI HQ & Greater Noida Campus of TNAI
In line with the decision at the TNAI’s EC meeting (2019) to orient the TNAI State & UT Branch Executive Committee members to the functioning of TNAI within three months of the State/UT Branch Election, the executive members from the Delhi State Branch participated in one-day orientation program on 14the October 2024 from 8 am to 5.30 pm at TNAI HQ and its Greater Noida campus.
After the welcome address, there was a session related to TNAI and SNAI and also a briefing on TNAI’s role as a recruitment agency. The broad areas covered in the orientation were;
- History of TNAI & SNAI
- Update on TNAI Membership
- Update on TNAI publication
- Orientation about Land Purchase, Accounting & Auditing
- Orientation about agenda, Minutes, & State Branch Report
- Orientation about the Staff of TNAI and their Role & Job Responsibilities

Executive Members visited the Greater Noida campus, and various activities being conducted at CIN & R/ECH were explained to the executive members. The topics covered were:

- Simulation Lab
- National Nursing Museum with preciously preserved letter & Voice of “Florence Nightingale”
