TNAI Delhi Branch Report of Nurses’ Day Celebration 2025 in collaboration with the College of Nursing ILBS

Objective of the Program

The Nurses’ Day Celebration 2025 was organised to honour nurses’ contribution to healthcare delivery, emphasise their well-being, and recognise the economic value of nursing care. The program aimed to:

• Promote awareness about workplace safety and professional development.

• Address the emotional and physical well-being of nurses.

• Inspire innovation and leadership among the nursing fraternity.

• Celebrate nursing as a pillar of resilient and compassionate health systems.

8:30 AM – 9:00 AM | Registration:

The day began with a warm welcome and a registration process.

9:00 AM – 9:45 AM | Session 1: Scientific Session:

Topic: Nursing Meets Technology: How AI is Changing Our Daily Work

Speaker: Dr. Harshvardhan Tevethia, Associate Professor, Hepatology, ILBS

This enlightening session highlighted the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in modern nursing. Dr. Tevethia explained how AI is used for patient monitoring, early detection of complications, decision support systems, and electronic documentation. He emphasised that nurses must be prepared to embrace these technological advancements to remain practical and relevant.

9:45 AM – 10:30 AM | Session 2: Interactive Session

Topic: Teamwork Makes the Shift Work: Building a Stronger Nursing Team

Presented by: MSc (Nursing) Students, ILBS; Moderated by: Dr. Sunita Srivastava

Students conducted an activity using the “Six Thinking Hats” technique to demonstrate team decision-making. They showed how clear communication, defined roles, and empathy build team efficiency in clinical settings. The audience actively participated, making this a fun and insightful session.

The formal inauguration of the Nurses’ Day celebration was held with grace and honour.

Program Highlights:

• MIME Performance: A soulful and moving Florence Nightingale-themed MIME was presented by ILBS students.

Mrs. Yangchen Dolma, President, TNAI Delhi Branch, welcomed all guests, emphasising this year’s theme and the day’s significance. All Dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp as a symbol of knowledge, care, and commitment. Dr. Mini George, Principal, College of Nursing, ILBS, unveiled the theme and discussed its relevance to India’s healthcare system. Mrs. Annie Kumar, National President, TNAI HQ, acknowledged the spirit of Indian nurses and the vision for nursing growth nationwide. Mrs. Evelyn P. Kannan, Secretary-General, TNAI HQ, elaborated on the history, advocacy, and milestones of TNAI. Mrs. Cicily Babu, Senior Nurse Manager, ILBS, spoke of real-life challenges and triumphs in nursing services. Sr. Prof. Dr. S.K. Sarin, Director & Chancellor, ILBS, appreciated the dedication of nurses and called them the “heart of hospitals”. Dr. V. Indumathy, Secretary, TNAI Delhi Branch, delivered a Vote of Thanks. Felicitation of DHASNU President, Mr Sudhir Rupjee, Secretary, Mr Maneesh Prajapathi, TNAI Co-Ordinator, Mrs Taruna Sharma by TNAI Delhi Branch. Felicitation was also given to Dr Feba Gee Varghese for achieving the position of Associate Dean of the University School of Sciences, GSSIP University. Dr Shiny Chacko, National Treasurer of TNAI, explained the membership benefits to the participants.

11:45 AM – 12:30 PM | Session 3: Acknowledging the Unsung Nursing Heroes;

Topic: Our Impact, Our Future: Recognising the Value of Our Work

Speakers: • Ms. Deepti Damodaran, Consultant, Elsevier Publisher

                   • Sr. Preeti Margret, Director, Sparsh Bethany Health Centre

They discussed the evolving identity of nurses beyond caregiving: as educators, leaders, researchers, and advocates. The session inspired participants to claim their rightful space in healthcare decision-making.

12:15 PM – 1:00 PM | Session 4: Wellness Session:

Topic: Caring for Ourselves: Prioritising Nurses’ Well-being at Work

Dr. Neha Prabhakar, Hypnotherapist & Dr. Mohit Kumar Varshney, Associate Professor, Psychiatry, ILBS

This relaxing session included live demonstrations of deep breathing, mindfulness, and guided meditation. Speakers addressed stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout among nurses and encouraged self-care as a professional responsibility.

2:00 PM – 2:45 PM | Session 5: Role Play on Assertive Communication;

Topic: Our Nurses, Our Voice: Speaking Up and Leading from the Floor

Resource Person: Ms. Kiran Kanojia & Team (Nursing Officers, Kalawati Saran Children’s Hospital): Through role plays and case discussions, the team demonstrated how assertive communication and respectful dialogue help nurses raise patient care concerns, manage conflicts, and lead quality improvement initiatives.

2:45 PM – 3:30 PM | Session 6: Ergonomics for Nurses;

Topic: Body Mechanics and Ergonomics: Protecting Nurses at Work

Speaker: Dr. Mini George, Principal. ILBS College of Nursing

Moderator: Ms. Bharti Sachdeva

This hands-on session included demonstrations by students on safe lifting, correct posture, and workstation adjustments. Nurses were educated on preventing musculoskeletal injuries using simple ergonomic principles.

4:00 PM – 5:00 PM | Educational and Cultural Program

Students of the College of Nursing, ILBS, nursing officer of RML and Nurses from various esteemed hospitals performed their talents by beautifully choreographed dances, a heartfelt nursing skit, and melodious songs. The performances celebrated the spirit of nursing and left the audience inspired.

Outcomes of the Celebration

• Strengthened nursing networks and collaboration across institutions.

• Raised awareness about AI, safety, teamwork, and mental wellness.

• Inspired nurses to lead and speak up for their rights and patient care.

• Celebrated the legacy and future of nursing in India.
