“ECG – from Basics to Essentials”

3rd Webinar of TNAI Delhi Branch

Overview

The Delhi State Branch of The Trained Nurses’ Association of India (TNAI) successfully organized a comprehensive webinar titled “ECG Essentials: Step by Step from Basic to Advanced.” The webinar aimed to enhance the participants’ understanding of electrocardiography (ECG) and improve their ability to interpret ECGs in clinical practice. The sessions were carefully designed to cover fundamental concepts, advanced techniques, and practical applications in a step-by-step manner. This initiative attracted a diverse audience, including nursing professionals, educators, and students, all eager to strengthen their expertise in ECG interpretation.

Webinar Sessions

The webinar was structured into seven detailed modules, with each session conducted from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Renowned experts facilitated these sessions, ensuring participants gained in-depth knowledge of ECG principles and applications.

Session Highlights

Day1 (21st Dec 2024-Module 1): ECG Essentials: Conduction System and Basic Principles

Speaker:  Ms. Anu James
This session focused on introducing participants to the conduction system of the heart and the foundational principles of ECG interpretation. The speakers provided clear explanations supported by practical examples.

Day 2 (22nd Dec2024, Module 2): The Physics Behind Cardiac Axis: The Super Axis Man

Speaker: Mr. Arun EV
Participants explored the physics and mechanics of the cardiac axis. This session clarified the clinical relevance of determining the cardiac axis in diagnosing heart conditions.

Day3 (23rd Dec 2024, Module 3): The Pacemaker of the Heart: P Wave and Atrial Arrhythmias

Speaker: Ms Tenzin Dolma
The session delved into the role of the P wave as the heart’s pacemaker. Atrial arrhythmias were thoroughly explained, providing participants with diagnostic and management insights.

Day4 (24th Dec 2024, Module 4): Understanding ECG Parameters

Speakers: Ms Anu James, Mr Arun EV
This module covered various ECG parameters, offering participants a deeper understanding of the technical aspects of interpreting ECG tracings.

Day 5 (28th Dec 2024, Module 5): Ventricular Repolarization “The T Wave”

Speaker: Mr. Pramod
The session discussed the significance of the T wave in ventricular repolarization and its diagnostic implications.

Day 6 (29th Dec 2025, Module 6): Understanding the Complex “ECG Waves in MI”

Speaker: Mr. Arun EV
This session emphasized identifying ECG changes indicative of myocardial infarction (MI). Real-life case studies were used to reinforce learning.

Day 7 (30th Dec 2024, Module 7): ECG Virtual Workstation, TNAI Video Presentation, Post-test, and Feedback

Speakers: Mr. Arun EV
The final module provided a practical experience through the ECG Virtual Workstation.

  Performance Evaluation

A pre-test and post-test were conducted to measure the knowledge improvement among participants.

  • Average Pre-Test Score: 4/14
  • Average Post-Test Score: 11/14

The marked improvement in scores highlights the effectiveness of the webinar in enhancing participants’ understanding of ECG interpretation

Participants Detail

A total of 50 participants registered for the webinar series. Out of these, certificates were issued to 28 participants. Certificates were issued only to those participants who complied with the requirement to issue the certificates. Participants also viewed a video presentation about TNAI, followed by a post-test and feedback.

Participant Feedback

Participants expressed high satisfaction with the webinar’s content, structure, and delivery. The ECG Virtual Workstation was appreciated as a practical tool for applying theoretical knowledge. Many attendees acknowledged the relevance of the topics covered to their professional practice.
