Notification regarding Cancer Awareness Program
Posted by: TNAI Delhi State Branch | Posted on: October 24, 2024In collaboration with the Nurses Initiative for Community Empowerment (NICE) Delhi chapter, the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), Delhi state branch, conducted a cancer awareness program for the residents of the Tibetan Youth Hostel, consisting of 50 college students and the hostel staff on 19/10/2024 from 2.30 PM to 4 PM at Tibetans Youth Hostel Auditorium, sector 14, Rohini.
The main focused messages were:
- “Early detection saves lives—regular screenings and self-exams can make a crucial difference in cancer outcomes.”
- “Spread the word: Knowledge is power in the fight against cancer; educate yourself and others about prevention and treatment options.”
The Program started with Registration by Ms. Ashly Mathew, Chairperson of the Program Committee, and Mrs. Geeta Rani, Representative ANM/LHV, TNAI Delhi State Branch. The President of TNAI Delhi State Branch, Mrs. Yangchen Dolma, delivered the welcome speech and was a Moderator for the Awareness Program. The first session started with the Prevention and early detection of cancer by the National Chairman of NICE, Mr Mathew Varghese, which was followed by a Breast self-examination & its importance delivered by a lived experience expert, Ms Neelima Sharad Shingade, Senior Nursing Officer of AIIMS IRCH, New Delhi. The final session, an orientation to Delhi Government Healthcare facilities in the Rohini region, was held by Dr Sharwan Kumar Dhaka, Chairperson of the Public Health Nursing Section, TNAI Delhi State Branch.
At the end of all the sessions, Dr V. Indumathy, Secretary of TNAI Delhi State Branch delivered the Vote of Thanks. Finally, all the speakers/ resource persons/ experts were felicitated by Dr. Tenzin Thupten, Director of the Tibetan Youth Hostel. The program concluded with the group photo.
